   (2) La frase «to acknowledge receipt» corrisponde alla italiana « accusar ricevuta ».
   (3) Registered letter  Lettera raccomandata.
   (4) By return  Forma accorciata di «by return of post». « Colla posta di ritorno », cioè « a volta di corriere ».
   (5) Post-parcel  Pacco postale.
   (6) To docket a letter.  É l'operazione di scrivere a tergo delle lettere le principali indicazioni, cioè : Nome e residenza del mittente, data d' arrivo, sunto del contenuto. In italiano dicesi comunemente «Far l'occhio alle lettere».

   Dealer Good morning Mr. Stone, how are you and how is business ?
   Importer  I am pretty well, thank you, and as to business it might be brisker, but on the whole I can't complain, we have gone through worse times than the present.
   D.  So it is ; nay, for my part I must say business is improving, for the number of my inland customers (2) is growing apace. True it is that I limit my profits within the lowest possible figure, while supplying my customers with the best descriptions of goods I can obtain on the market.
