ARGUMENT Settlement of a claim (3)
Manager (reading a card just handed by an office boyj Mr. John Flint of Margate ? let him in directly.
Insured I am sorry to trouble you, sir, at this busy hour, but I had no choice. I am just in from Margate and must leave by the four o' clock train to be back at home before dinner time.
(1) Fire Insurance Company Società di Assicurazione contro l'incendio.
(2) Insured Quest' aggettivo verbale é comunemente usato come sostantivo per indicare la persona assicurata.
(3) Il sostantivo claim corrisponde a « reclamo », ma comprende anche nel suo significato ciò che dà diritto a reclamo. Come termine tecnico di assicurazione vale per « sinistro » appunto perchè il sinistro dà all' assicurato il diritto di reclamare l'indennità dovutagli. Settlement of a claim equivale perciò a « Regolamento di sinistro ».

I. Exactly so, and mainly for the sake of sparing time. This affair has now been going on twenty five days, and I can't wait any longer; my business is entirely stopped and every day's delay in starting it anew adds to the heavy damage I have suffered.
M. I thought you had agreed with our Margate agent, and was waiting for his report to settle the claim.
I. Far from that, sir, no understanding is possible on such terms as proposed by him, and this is the reason of my calling on you.
M. Well, let us see what we can do. (perussing an index-book) (1) Your policy (2) was executed (3) under date of April the fifteenth 1917 and bears number 15410.
(1) Index-book Pandetta o Rubrica, che ha le pagine progressivamente segnate con lettere in ordine alfabetico.
(2) Policy La polizza, cioè il contratto di assicurazione.
