   I.  To which we should add the heavy-prejudice I suffered and am still suffering from the forced suspension of business.
   M.  I'll not argue the point now as to the extent of your losses, but beg you to consider that we can deal with such risks only as being covered by your policy.
   I.  I meant to be protected against any damage I might suffer from fire within the term of the policy; that was my view of the matter when I got insured, and such is still my opinion.
   M.  You are greatly mistaken in this, my dear Mr. Flint; no insurance company in the world would undertake such an unlimited liability, as there is no foreseeing to what material and moral extent a man, and particularly a business man, may be hurt by a fire or any other accident; consequences, you know are quite unmeasurable in advance.
   I.  Never mind consequences. What I laid and do lay claim to is that I am to be indemnified to the penny for the actual damage suffered through the conflagration.
   M.  That is, tor such as being covered by the policy, I remark, for instance, that

   neither the premises of your store nor the furniture of your dwelling are at all mentioned in the document, which literally reads as follows: (reading) « On the goods, furniture « and fixtures existing in his drapery (i) and « clothing store (2) 32 & 34 Seaside Road, Mar-« gate, valued a L. 3000 {say (3 ¡: three thou-« sand ponnds) ».
   I.  There must have been some misunderstanding in drawing up the policy then, for I intended to have the premises covered also; not for their full value, of course, but against any casual damage to them. However, since things stand differently, I'll not insist upon the point. As to my dwelling, on the contrary, it being connected with the store through an inner passage, I think it should be considered as a part thereof; an important quantity of goods, especially of ready-made clothes (4), was in fact lodged in several rooms of the first story, and was partly damaged.
